Monday Marvellous - Majestic Moths!

Hello there,
'Happy Monday' My Lovelies! .... How are you?

I recently discovered something really creative and different on Etsy that I 'earmarked' in my favourites to show you (when time allowed). That 'something' was a soft-sculpture moth ornament, made from vintage fabrics.
I thought today was a good day to 'pull them out of the hat' ~ even though that's usually white rabbits, I shall be pulling pretty moths out of mine!! Hmmm, let's move on.....

I love these pretty moths made from lovely old rescued fabrics. I love that they are made by an English guy, who likes to be called Finch, (hence the shop name Mr Finch!), and lives with his wife and three 'crazy cats' ~ he sounds fun! A straight man that sews, how utterly fabulous!!!! lol  [I don't mean to sound sexist, it's just a rare and precious find!! ].

I decided, I'd have a little look to see what other handmade moth themed items I could find on Etsy. There were some great finds, take a look at my favourites ...

Silkscreened Moth cushion

Moth Necklace
handmade moth brooch

Just finally, I have to add the point that I am not a fan of REAL moths!! Bleh! They eat all our t-shirts. Only around the abdomen area of the shirts for some reason?! Does that annoying phenomenon happen to you too?
If so, have you discovered any NATURAL prevention that really works? Alas, we have not and I am allergic to Moth balls and such, they trigger my asthma.

Oh well, these ones are all really lovely anyway, almost as pretty as their cousins the butterflies. We'll leave those for another day...

have a great week,
love,
Sally x0x

postscript: I just discovered that Mr Finch has a great blog - go visit him here!

Colour Inspiration - 'Weathered Tones'

Antique shop door ~ New Orleans
Hi,
phew I am just about catching up with normal life after more than three weeks away from home.
I always enjoy travelling, and feel inspired by lots of interesting things I see on my travels. One of the things I will very often notice, is an interesting DOOR!
So, I am not surprised then, that when I just came across this stunning photo (whilst browsing Pinterest) , it spoke to me - in fact it shouted out "Hi, look at me, aren't I just beautiful?!".

The colours on this old door are just stunning together, don't you think?
It inspired me to find a few more beautiful aged doors, with their weathered-paint colour combinations, to share with you.

I think they all just soooo gorgeous!
I adore the fact that colour inspiration, and indeed design inspiration in general, can be found pretty much anywhere, even from something as simple as a door!

If you love doors too check out my Pinterest board dedicated to them here.

Hope you are having a great week,
love,

A spot of guest post writing...

photo by Sally Cooper (yes! that's me!)

Hi, how are you today?

I was recently invited by the lovely Anastasia of the popular 'Anastasia Drawing and Dreaming' blog
to write a guest post whilst she is away on her hols.

I thought 'why not?!' and why not indeed? So I did!!!

You can see it here.

If you like this colour combination and would like to see more of it you can check out my Pinterest board here "Northern Light"

{if you found your way here from Anastasia's blog - "hello, welcome and thanks for stopping by!"}

Have a great day!

So Stylish... a tale of two stylists named Emily!

Hello there,
I've been daydreaming again!....

I sometimes think that being a stylist would be my dream job - I don't think I'd be that great at it though,
not enough confidence for it for a start!! I do however find it a fascinating and inspiring profession and I really admire the creative talents of good stylists, be it in food, fashion or interiors.

Recently I enjoyed watching season 6 of HGTV's Design Star, (it's a reality TV competition for interior designers, in the style of Project Runway type shows, if you haven't seen it). The winner was Emily Henderson, a stylist and she won her own TV show - "Secrets of a Stylist". I have noticed her work cropping up on the web a little lately, so I thought I'd do a little search to see more.

Here is some of her lovely work and a picture of the pretty lady herself:

Whilst searching for Emily Henderson, I accidentally came across another wonderful interior stylist, by the name of Emily Henson!
Here is some of HER fantastic work:

They both have great style don't you think?

take care,

INSPIRING but seriously addictive...

Hello!.....

I have previously, already mentioned my love for Pinterest, but boy am I hooked at the moment!!
Oh dear! But really it's quite amazing. It is honestly!!

It (almost) makes me feel kind of like I do when I am travelling - freshly inspired, full of ideas, enthusiasm and optimism!! Don't believe me? Try it.
You may feel the same, and even if you don't I bet you will have at least one new idea from your visit...

if you have not discovered it for yourself yet - let me explain... it is a site and plugin that allows you to collect images that catch your eye, as you surf the net.

You simply sign up and install the "pin it" plugin to your browser. Then when you visit your favourite sites or blogs and see an image you love, and would like to store in a safe place for later, you just click on 'Pin It' in your bookmarks bar,  then you can save it with a comment to your Pinterest account into boards you make of similar things, be it by colour, by type, by any classification that takes your fancy!

You can also browse other memer's "pins" and add them to your own collection.

It is such a great tool for inspiration and ideas, to be kept in a quick, organised manner.

I have boards for colour inspiration, ideas collated for my future dream home (one day maybe...!!),
recipe ideas, clothes I like, quotes which inspire me, people whom inspire me and whom I admire,
products I love, a collection of clever ideas and tips....

all up - I have 55 boards at the moment.
There seems to be no limit to the amount you can store.

WARNING:
Pinterest is highly addictive, I can take no responsibility for any hours/ days/ even WEEKS you 'waste' being lost in the land of pinning!

HOWEVER, remember:
TIME YOU ENJOYED WASTING - IS NOT TIME WASTED AT ALL!!
Here are a few of my most recent discoveries:

Another similar resource is POLYVORE which is also fun website for collecting images (you may wish to check that one out too, if you haven't already!  Many Pinteresters use it!) But, I don't find it as user friendly or inspiring, personally.

enjoy,

Sally

P'Interesting!

Hello Lovelies!

...Have you discovered 'Pinterest' yet?
Maybe you are addicted to it, like I currently am?!

For the uninitiated - Pinterest is basically a 'virtual pinboard' — a place where you can create collections of things you love / that inspire you; and you can "follow" collections created by people with similar great taste to your own. It's a fabulous way to get inspired for designing, shopping, baking, even planning an event!

Here's a couple of lovely images I found and pinned, to whet your appetite...

view it here - it links to it's original (fab blog) source!
find this one here ( & original source here!)
If you'd like to 'follow' me there, I can be found here!

(you will need to sign up for your own account though).

I am busily getting ready for my first brick and mortar stockist (more about that soon),
and my son's DINOSAUR party (also more soon).

What are you working on this week?

Whatever it is, enjoy it!

love,
Sally xox
